Outdoor cooking

Outdoor living is my favorite topic any time of the year. Even today when it’s 19 degrees out! We still head outside to grill up dinner. What is more central to entertaining and relaxing then eating? In most homes the high point of any gathering is food and therefore cooking is real important. Cooking outdoors on a grill adds variety, taste, and so much interest to our meals. Personally, we grill year round outdoors and it would be great if we had an outdoor kitchen to prepare, cook, and hang out at. Then we truly could take the indoors out when ever we had company. With the addition of a heater, maybe 2 or 3 today, we could be out in the cold yet warm and cozy while we prepare dinner with our friends.

A simple outdoor kitchen design might include a good gas grill, counter space for preparation and drinks, and some storage for utensils and gear. This island creates a great location for hanging, cooking, and maybe even eating if we add some bar stools.

There are a number of things you can do with an outdoor kitchen, just let your imagination soar and design away. ┬áIn the mean time, try to keep warm, it’s not fit for man nor beast out there. Unless of course you have an outdoor kitchen set up to keep you warm and cozy.

And that, my friends, is about to change. About.com has some incredible rubs, sauces and even slow cooker recipes that are simply awesome. For the top 25 BBQ recipes, click here.

Enjoy, Chicago! Grilling doesn’t get any better than this.
